In a landmark move to deepen their historic alliance, Ethiopia and Russia have signed a groundbreaking three-year nuclear technology roadmap, marking the next phase of their strategic partnership. The agreement, signed today, builds on the success of their first nuclear roadmap and underscores Ethiopia's commitment to advancing its technological and economic collaboration with Russia.
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia, alongside Russian officials, hosted a high-level discussion platform aimed at strengthening bilateral ties across key sectors, including economic cooperation, cultural exchange, technology innovation, investment, education, agriculture, trade, and infrastructure development. The platform seeks to foster mutual agreements that will propel both nations toward shared prosperity.
Dr. Belete Mola, Chairman of the Ethiopian-Russia Joint Committee, emphasized the enduring and fruitful relationship between the two nations, rooted in centuries of shared history. "Ethiopia, unwavering in its culture and determination, welcomes this strengthened partnership with Russia," Dr. Mola stated. He highlighted the recent visit of Ethiopia's Prime Minister to Russia as a pivotal moment that not only solidified diplomatic ties but also enhanced mutual understanding.
"The agreements we are forging today address not only immediate challenges but also lay the foundation for a lasting and flourishing partnership for future generations," Dr. Mola added.
On behalf of Russia, Maxim Reshetnikov, Chairman of the United Nations Joint Committee and Minister of Economic Development, expressed Russia's enthusiasm for expanding its collaboration with Ethiopia. "While we have already achieved significant milestones together, we are eager to explore new opportunities by deepening our relationship," Reshetnikov said. He outlined plans to enhance cooperation in business, health, banking, energy, technology, media, tourism, and trade, ensuring mutual benefits for both nations.
The high-profile meeting saw participation from key Ethiopian officials, including the Ministers of Health, Tourism, Trade and Regional Relations, Education, and Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives from the Government Communication Service, Ethiopian Media Authority, and Investment Commission. This collective effort underscores the comprehensive nature of the partnership and its potential to drive transformative growth.
